The idea behind them is that they are inexpensive to produce. Thanks to this, they are close to the spot price of gold, without much markup for the end customers. However, this does not prevent them from having refined designs, often featuring symbolism, like the most popular gold bars worldwide – Fortuna, produced by the Swiss refinery PAMP.

Gold bars are produced in weights that are accepted in the market, and the weight can vary significantly. Unlike gold coins, which are rarely larger than one fine ounce, gold bars can weigh up to 12.5 kilograms (or 400 ounces), which is the standard for interbank payments.

However, in the local market, the heaviest bars that are widely available are 100 grams. But this does not mean there aren’t smaller products that make it easier to manage your savings. A good example is the Tavex subscription bar, weighing one gram.

If all other conditions are equal, the price per gram of pure gold is more favorable when purchasing larger bars. The reason is that the production costs are similar for products of the same value, and this cost makes up a larger portion of the final price for smaller products.

It’s advisable to research from which dealer you will purchase gold products before making your decision. A good sign is when a dealer works directly with reputable refineries that produce investment-grade products. Investment gold bars have a serial number, and they display the purity of the gold (which should be a minimum of .995 thousandths or 23.88 karats), the weight, a unique serial number, and the manufacturer.

In addition to these parameters, the refineries we work with guarantee the quality of their products with a seal from an independent assessor – ESSAYEUR FONDEUR or MELTER ASSAYER.

All bars (except for those cast weighing 250g or 1kg) are delivered by the manufacturer in vacuum-sealed protective packaging, which should not be opened.

Opening this packaging would decrease their value during repurchase because they would be sold as scrap gold. The packaging also includes a certificate of origin, and this acts as a signed certificate of authenticity.
